What
if I am not sure about what I have to offer?
Everyone
has some talent! If you have the time, we probably have a job for you.
We suggest you decide what part of the state you would like to look at
and then browse through the opportunities. If the job sounds interesting
to you call the contact person and discuss your qualifications. Even if
this is not the right match for you, our staff will be pleased to speak
with you. They may recommend something else. The important thing is that
you are motivated to help.

Call
or email one of our local offices. Perhaps you have a talent that we need
but just didn’t think of! Your time and energy is important to us.

As
a volunteer, how much responsibility will I have?
You will always be working with the supervision of one of our professionals.
It is our intention to make your volunteer experience a positive one.
We will not give you more responsibility than you feel comfortable with.
At the same time, we hope to fully utilize as many of your talents as
possible.

What
if there are certain types of situations that make me uncomfortable?
We have a wide range of opportunities. When you find one that looks
interesting to you, call the contact person. Feel free to discuss any
concerns you may have. Our professionals want to make this a positive
experience for you.

What
will be expected of me once I decide to take on a volunteer position?
The supervisor will discuss this in detail with you before you commit
to any position. The job requirements will be delineated clearly. We would
expect you to be where you were assigned at the appropriate time or to
let the supervisor know if you cannot make it. It would be helpful if
you let us know in advance about prior commitments (vacations, personal
appointments etc.). As a volunteer you have considerable flexibility in
this area. We also ask that your appearance and behavior be appropriate
for the setting you are working in. Being a volunteer can be the best
of all worlds. You will make your own hours (just let us know and make
sure we all agree) and you will only be asked to participate in tasks
that you agree to. This experience can be a blessing for you as well as
for the beneficiaries of your services.

What
is the minimum/maximum number of hours I could commit to?
That’s up to you. You may want to come in to one of our programs on
a weekly basis for a few hours a week. Or you may decide to commit to
a special one-time project like a fundraising event. This may require
a commitment of a few or many hours for a short period of time. You decide.
Let our professionals know your needs when you call.

and needs.
