Project APOYO
A bilingual, culturally specific Alternative Sanctions Program designed to offer young Latino offenders the supervision, support, and education needed to bring about a positive and productive lifestyle. The name APOYO itself stands for "Alternative to Prison Opportunities for Youthful Offenders" and in Spanish APOYO means "Support." Project APOYO’s goals:
- Reduce Latino over-representation in traditional incarceration programs;
- Offer positive and productive activities to develop our youth's sense of responsibility and accountability;
- Encourage and support family treatment on behalf of program youth.
