School Based Programs

Lewis Fox Middle School and
Thomas J. Quirk Middle School
After School Initiative

The after school initiative is designed to improve student performance in reading, writing, and math. The three components of these programs, which serve an average of 240 students per day, include academic support, case management and enrichment activities.  Our programs provide a variety of services aimed at improving school attendance through intensive outreach engagement, teaching life skills and pro-social behaviors, and increasing cognitive and intellectual growth through structured activities. These programs provide coordination for all on-site after school activities throughout the school year and a five-week summer program.

Case Management
Youth referred from the Juvenile Court, Department of Children & Families, and several community agencies receive one-to-one intervention and advocacy within the system. A case manager is assigned to assist youth in their positive growth and development. Case managers utilize strength based strategies to improve family, school and community functions.

Matthew 25 Scholarship
The Scholarship Program is based on the biblical perspective of Matthew 25 and the overall mission of Catholic Charities. The goal is to assist economically disadvantaged Hartford youth by providing the opportunity of a private high school education.
