The Southside Family Center

Program Description
Southside Family Center is part of the Brighter Futures Initiative of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, in collaboration with Catholic Charities. The Southside Family Center's primary goal is to improve school readiness skills for the children that reside in Southwest Hartford. The program also offers services that help to strengthen family and community relationships where parents play a major role in designing programs that reflect the needs of the community. The Southside Family Center is an educational support center for the whole family.

Services Provided
A flexible schedule for services is provided to accommodate both working and at-home parents. Childcare is provided while attending classes. Our list of resources available for families is as follows:

· Parent and Child Advocacy
· ESL & GED Classes
· Basic Computer Classes
· Pre-School and School Readiness Programs
· Positive Parenting Workshops
· Financial Planning Workshops
· Childhood Safety/CPR
· Child Development Workshops
· Cultural Events
· Parent Drop-In Center
· Use of a English/Spanish Library
· Stress/Time Management Workshops
. School Readiness - all day child care for Hartford 3 and 4 year olds.

Eligibility
While predominately catering to families in the Southwest part of Hartford, The Southside Family Center does not deny anyone eligibility.
