ARPA funds to senior centers promoted

A host of elected officials gathered at our South End Wellness Senior Center in Hartford this morning to talk about the millions of dollars going to senior centers in Connecticut through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding. They used our center as an example of the many important services that help elderly Americans live longer, happier lives.
Among those gathered this morning were Gov. Ned Lamont; Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin; U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal; U.S. Rep. John Larson; State Reps. Mitch Bolinsky and Jane Garibay, members of the legislature’s Joint Committee on Aging; and Amy Porter, Commissioner of the state’s Department of Aging and Disability Services.
ARPA is an economic stimulus bill passed by Congress in 2021 to help communities recover from the health and economic impacts of Covid-19.
