The Centro San Jose preschool program in New Haven held its graduation ceremony Tuesday for 16 students who are headed to kindergarten in the fall. The ceremony, at the School Readiness program’s site on Grand Avenue in the city’s Fair Haven neighborhood, caps off an amazing and incredibly valuable education experience for the students.
Teacher Sheena Toney was one of the speakers during the ceremony and she talked about all the students’ achievements over their time at CSJ – learning to write, saying their first words, making friends, growing up, and more. She also thanked the parents, who are strongly encouraged and welcome to be involved in their child’s education at CSJ.
“Thank you for walking this path with us as a family,” Sheena told the parents. “Thank you for collaborating and participating in our special activities and projects. … You put in a lot of time, love and energy.”
Centro San Jose is one of several School Readiness preschools operated by Catholic Charities in Hartford, Meriden, New Haven and Waterbury. They are accredited programs for ages 3-5 and focus on promoting children’s language, cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
